For many neurodivergent children, a comfort object *like a teddy bear* is more than a toy. It’s a source of safety, familiarity, and emotional regulation in a world that often feels overwhelming. At Casa do Urso, we took inspiration from that bond. Our name means “House of the Bear,” and our space was designed to feel just like that: a warm, welcoming forest-home that embodies the same emotional role a comfort object plays.
It is not just a clinic, it is a place where children can feel seen, safe, and understood. Every detail, from the architecture to the therapeutic approach, was created to offer connection, predictability, and calm. Because healing starts with feeling at home.

The Challenge
Traditional medical spaces often feel sterile and intimidating, especially for neurodivergent children. We needed to create a space that was not only functional and accessible, but also emotionally intelligent. Something that spoke to both children and parents, with warmth, clarity, and trust.
The challenge: how to build a therapeutic brand that invites * without overwhelming? That informs * without intimidating?
The Solution
We developed a modular visual system inspired by nature, safety, and softness. The brand centers around Tato, a bear character who serves as an older brother figure for the children — welcoming, curious, and emotionally attuned.
Key elements:
Color palette inspired by the four colors of the autism spectrum, applied in subtle, soothing tones.
Illustration system featuring the Bear Family, used across onboarding materials and storytelling.
Environmental design in collaboration with child-focused architects: sensory zoning, dark room with star ceiling, sound-safe walls, playful but calming transitions.
Inclusive signage and materials, adapted to different support levels and communication needs.
Emocionário, an emotional literacy program designed to engage parents and children in therapeutic language at home.
